WOOD CHIPS PROCCESSING PLANTS

General information

Biomass boilers are nowadays very efficient and common, but they need an economic fuel, abundant and with a high caloric index. These boilers can use as fuel wood pellets or briquettes and generate the necessary steam. Wood pellets can also be used in modern grills and kitchens to cook food.

A lot of emphasis is placed on the optimal use in the production of thermal energy, either by means of adequate thermal insulation measures and the almost complete performance of existing fuels.

When wood is used, the greatest value is placed in the added value chain, to achieve the highest possible yield in the necessary products. During harvesting and processing, waste such as bark, shavings, sawdust and shavings are raw materials for later use.

In the past, these "wastes" were only considered as waste, but in recent years technologies have been developed to capture these wastes and obtain significant profits. These include, among others, pelletizing and briquettes. In both processes, the raw material must be dry and have a certain size. When making briquettes, the raw material is pressed in different ways depending on the hydraulic method, or mechanically with high pressures.

When Pelleting, the raw material is pressed at high pressure through the orifices of the matrix obtaining a small cylinder of compressed sawdust, which can be handled well in bio fuel automation systems of recycled material, which should be considered an advantage.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE PLANT

The objective of the system is to convert quantities of waste into products that can be pelletized or converted into briquettes.

  • The wood waste is delivered as wood chips in the pellet plant, the delivered material should be reduced in size up to 6".
  • First they are subjected to drying, since the subsequent processing of the granules requires a residual moisture of 10 to 12%. The water is extracted from the product, and at the end of the process, the extracted moisture is discharged together with the drying air through an open-air chimney.
  • Then it is processed again to reduce the particle to the final size and moisture required for the final process, which can be convert in Pellets or Briquettes.

New alternatives in the production of cleaner energies represent a business opportunity in the generation of heat or biomass boilers.

These processes represent an opportunity to switch to renewable sources of heating, electricity and fuel, while offering new opportunities for several industries to produce large quantities of renewable products.

What makes this technology so attractive to several industries is that it will be possible to modify existing boilers, which can then supplement the production of heat and energy with the production of fossil-free fuels and chemicals.

    Why choose Our Plants?

Our customers choose this type of plants because:

    • Pelletizing this type of product opens a new business opportunity for the heating or electric generation market.
    • The use of Fossil Fuels can be reduced.
    • An alternative for the reuse of waste from the wood industry
    • A new opportunity for biomass materials that have a high caloric content.
